Privacy Policy

Basal is designed with privacy as a priority. Your financial data is stored locally on your device by default. Cloud sync is optional and your data is never sold or shared with third parties.

1. Information We Collect

Basal collects and stores the following data:

• Account information (email, display name) when you create an account
• Expense entries including names, amounts, frequencies, categories, and custom tags
• App preferences and settings
• Activity history (expense additions, edits, deletions)

By default, all data is stored locally on your device. If you enable cloud sync, this data is securely stored in our cloud infrastructure.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your data is used solely to provide you with expense tracking functionality within the App. Specifically:

• To calculate your daily, weekly, monthly, and annual costs
• To generate spending reports and insights
• To track upcoming expenses
• To sync your data across devices (if enabled)

We do NOT: sell your data to third parties, use your data for advertising, share your data with external services, or collect analytics about your spending habits.

3. Data Storage

Local Storage: All data is stored locally using secure device storage. Your data persists between app sessions and is only accessible by the App on your device.

Cloud Storage: If you enable cloud sync, your data is stored securely in Supabase with row-level security ensuring only you can access your own data. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

4. Data Export

You can export your expense data as a CSV file at any time through Settings > Export Data. The export includes all expense details, categories, tags, and calculated costs.

5. Data Deletion

You have full control over your data:

• Delete individual expenses at any time
• Delete your account and all associated data through Settings
• If using cloud sync, deletion removes data from both local storage and cloud

Once deleted, your data cannot be recovered.

6. Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your data: biometric authentication (Face ID / Touch ID), secure credential storage using device keychain, encrypted data transmission for cloud sync, and row-level security policies in our cloud database.

7. Third-Party Services

If you enable cloud sync, we use Supabase for secure data storage and authentication. We do not integrate with any advertising or analytics platforms.

8. Children's Privacy

This App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App and updating the "Last updated" date.
